Hellenic Agricultural Organization - Demeter (ELGO) is the national body responsible for the agricultural research and technology in Greece. Soil & Water Resources Institute (SWRI) has active coordination and participation in several national and international research projects. It has substantial R&D experience concerning bioprocesses for waste /wastewater treatment and reuse, removal of effluent pollutants, recovery of valuable products from agricultural effluents/by-products etc. It operates various lab-scale and pilot plants and it possesses state-of- the-art analytical facilities for physicochemical characterization of waste streams and monitoring/evaluation of biofuel quality.
