CRONUS Project Final Meeting at KOS 2026: Shaping the Future of Negative-Emission Biofuels

On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, CRONUS project will have its final meeting during the 13th International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management (KOS 2026).
The dedicated session, titled “Capture and Reuse of biogenic gases for Negative-emission-sustainable biofuels,” will take place in the Ialyssos Room (Session VI, Part A) from 15:00 to 16:45.

Project Overview

The session opens with a general presentation of the HORIZON CRONUS Project, chaired by D. Malamis and M. Loizidou, outlining the project’s framework and objectives.

From Theory to Action: 5 Functional Prototypes
The core of the session will present data and insights from 5 Functional Prototypes successfully deployed across Europe:
Prototype 1 (Athens, Greece): Presented by S. Mai
Prototype 2 (Thessaloniki, Greece): Presented by P. Kougias
Prototype 3 (Copenhagen, Denmark): Presented by I. Angelidaki
Prototype 4 (Montpellier, France): Presented by J.-M. Commandré
Prototype 5 (Boecillo, Spain): Presented by D. Hidalgo

Market Viability & Operational Integration
The final presentation, delivered by N. Kamergi, will focus on the conceptual and operational integration of financing and business models for innovative biogenic CCUS solutions, sharing key outcomes from the CRONUS project.
